Welcome!

Hello GES parents and students. As part of a class for my Master's Degree, I was introduced to blogging this summer as a way to communicate to parents and students. I am hoping to use this blog for a number of reasons, but most importantly to give you a source of information for our music department. Throughout the year, you will find information about music programs, any specific needs you might be able to help us with, updates on what your children are doing in music class, and much, much more! Don't worry, paper copies of all the information you need to know will still be coming home with your children on a regular basis. However, I hope that you will check in to this blog and use it as a way to find out more and communicate with me! I look forward to using this technology to keep you up to date and involved with your child's music education. Thanks for stopping by!

What are those things over there?

Since this aspect of technology is new to me, I am guessing that it is pretty foreign to many of you as well. Let me take a moment to explain what you are seeing in the sidebar to the right of my posts, so that you can start to use them!

The poll that you see is to help me to know if this is going to be a worthwhile endeavor. I sincerely hope that it is, but if most of you say you won't use it, I'm not going to put the time and effort into keeping it current. Please take a moment to click one of the responses. The poll will close on September 30th.

The calendar you see below that is a rolling 30 day calendar, so it should display any events that I have entered for the next 30 days. I will be entering program dates and other special events here.

Below that, you see a little orange icon with the invitation to subscribe to my blog. If you have an RSS reader and you subscribe to this blog, your computer will automatically be notified every time I update the page. With this feature, you don't have to check this site every day to see if I've added anything new. Your computer will go and get that information for you, and you'll know as soon as I update this page!!! Ahh, technology.

Look for more information soon. I hope this is helpful!
